R130“BYPASS” – ORGAN TRAFFICKING DRAMA
Produced by Media Village Productions
Directed by Shane Vermooten.
Viewing across Ster-Kinekor Theatres May 2017
In September 2010 the South African Press broke the story of five South African doctors who had been charged with performing illegal kidney transplants for rich Israelis using organs bought from poor Brazilians and Romanians. This incident suddenly highlighted the fact that this insidious crime was happening in our hospitals, and under cover of medical system.
When Media Village Productions, Cape Town was given the opportunity to produce a movie on trafficking they decided to address this issue and to base their first feature film on true incidents around this ever-growing practice. The movie will be viewed in Ster – Kinekor theatres in May 2017.
